What is a 'cold' fogger? :
A cold fogger is 'cold' because its the
opposite of a thermal fogger. Cold foggers don't use heat to vaporize the
fogging/disinfecting liquid. Instead, they use cold spraying methods, which,
use high amounts of air pressure to spray out in tiny particles.
How do cold foggers work?
All ULV foggers are powered by an electric
motor. This motor gives the power to spray the fogger disinfectant in small
particles. The power of the airflow will depend on the power of the
engine/motor. There will obviously need to be a power source within the area/s
being fogged. An extension cord is usually an important addition for the ULV
fogger
So the advantages that ULV foggers have over
thermal foggers is that they allow you control the particle size. The standard
ULV fogger allows particle sizes between 10 & 150 microns. Particle size is
controlled by the flow valve button on the fogger. HIgher air-flow will produce
smaller particles. The particle-size choice will depend on the area you wish to
disinfect. For indoor spaces the smaller the particle the better (access to
tight spaces, stays in the air for longer, etc).
The most popular type of cold fogger is the
ultra-low volume (ULV) fogger
What are the benefits of fogging? :
Fogging is the most effective
disinfecting/sanitation method. It enables
· disinfection
of large surface areas at speed and with little effort. The disinfection
particles sprayed from the fogger land (and stay) on the targetted surfaces
where the chemical works on killing bacteria, viruses, and pathogens that may
exist there. This is hugely more efficient than the normal spray and wipe
(which in many cases is more polishing than sanitizing) approach.
· Fogging
has the benefit of killing airborne virus or bacterial particles. Recent
research has suggested that covid particles may be airborne for longer than
previously thought. Think of fogging as a 'machine-gun'. Shooting the
disinfecting chemical into the air, thus destroying any airborne pathogens in
its path.
What industries or businesses could have use
of a fogger?
Foggers can be used in virtually every
business - where a bacteria or virus free/reduced environment is essential or
desirable.
· factories - food, storage, white/household
goods etc etc
· spa's/salons, hotels, restaurants, kitchens,
washrooms and general hospitality/retail
· hospitals/clinics, veterinary practices
etc
· schools, daycare, nurseries,
· home and commercial buildings
· gyms, golf clubs, sports arena's etc
· general retail - from small to large units
· car showrooms, interior of cars etc
· shoes, clothes etc of staff or
clients/visitors.
